I want to share some thoughts from my personal devotions from this morning:
1 John 1:5-10 "This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not known in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim to we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives."
Pride is a deceiver. Pride makes us believe that we are "fine" or "without need to change." Do not let pride deceive you into thinking that because you are a Christian, you are therefore perfect. It is true that Christ's blood purifies us from all unrighteousness, yet we still sin. If we confess those sins, God will forgive us. If we let pride get in the way, the word will not seem needed, it will have "no place in our lives." I do not want to live a life without the word.
Prayer: Lord, crush my pride and help me to see my need for you everyday.
Listen to this PRINCIPLE:
1 John 2:15-17 "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For EVERYTHING in the world-
the CRAVINGS of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and boasting of what he has and does comes NOT FROM THE FATHER but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God LIVES FOREVER!"
When people question whether or not they should be doing something or they try to justify their choices, they are trying to love the things in the WORLD! With God, we have principles and commandments. We have the tools that show us how to live well for the Lord! With God and His Word in our life, the choices we make will be clearer. We won't linger on, "Is this right? Or is this wrong?" It will be an automatic response to guard our hearts, our minds, and to place our desires in the will of God. Let us reach for the crown of eternal life!
